Talent search for Northern KZN musicians

The highly successful Newcastle Musicians Club, in collaboration with The Newcastle Advertiser and the White Mountain Festival, is launching an exciting talent search for up-and-coming musical acts based in Northern KZN.

The competition will run from July until end-August 2008 with the following prizes being offered:

  • A chance to perform at the White Mountain Festival in September 2008;
  • A demo recording of two songs for the winner of the competition;
  • Newspaper coverage for the winners of each heat.

This is a golden opportunity to be heard at a major musical festival and perhaps be discovered as the next big South African act!

Entry requirements:

  • The competition is open to any musical genre, provided it is of an acoustic "unplugged" nature.
  • Bands, duos and solo acts can enter and will be required to perform four songs (all of which must be original material).
  • Entrants will need to provide two electronic photographs (over 500kb), a band profile and biography.
  • Entrants must be willing to travel to Newcastle to perform at the Newcastle Musicians Club for the preliminary rounds. (These will take place every second Friday in July and August, with the semi-finals in early September – all dates to be announced.)

Judging will be undertaken by the Newcastle Musician Club management committee and four artists will be selected at the semi-finals to perform and compete at the White Mountain Festival.

For more information or to apply to enter, contact Angus Burns (084 400 1234) or Shane Crompton (082 343 1909). Dates of performances will be confirmed within three working days of submitting your entry.
